Tango workshops with Belen Silva, Sunday 20 May 2012

Belen Silva will be back in Newcastle this Sunday 20 May 2012 to conduct 2 workshops. Details are as follows:

• Workshop 1:  2:30 pm to 3:30 pm  – Short sequences with change of direction
• Workshop 2:  4:00 pm to 5:00 pm  – Sequences with dynamic elements

Venue: Cardiff Senior Citizens Hall, cnr Myall Rd. and Harrison St., Cardiff.
Cost: $25 per person for one workshop, $40 per person for both.

Newcastle Workshops – First for 2012 with Club de Tango, Saturday 14th April

Peter and Lisa’s first Tango Workshops of 2012 in Newcastle are on this coming Saturday!

• Workshop 1: Close Embrace Tango - Emphasis on rhythmical movement and techniques for connecting different movements on the dance floor. Time: 2.00pm to 3.30pm.
• Workshop 2: Combinations - Understanding the movements of giros, sacadas, barridas. Time: 4.00pm to 5.30pm.

Cost: $25 per workshop or $40 for both.

Tango workshops with Belen Silva Sunday 18 March 2012

Belen Silva, the experienced tango dancer and teacher from Argentina, will be back in Newcastle this Sunday 18 February 2012 to conduct 2 workshops.

General scope

One workshop will explore a particular element from the point of view of the person who leads. The idea is that everyone will learn what the lead is, how it is done, which elements take part, how space is used, etc. The aim is that the person who ‘receives’ the lead learn about it through the person who leads.

The second workshop will explore a different element from the follower’s viewpoint, where the person who ‘receives’ the lead takes more prominence. We will work on variations in the response, how to adapt the movement to different bodies, etc.

Specific details are as follows:

• Workshop 1: 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm -”Volcadas milongueras” (emphasis on the role of the leader)
• Workshop 2: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm “Voleos o castigadas: both led and as adornments” (role of the follower)
